It's a new year, and we are making plans for the Wisteria Gardens CSA season. We invite you to join us on a special adventure into exploring certain Heirloom crops this year. Heirloom crops are those which were developed generations ago, and have not been genetically altered. The big seed companies have stopped providing Heirloom seeds, but reportedly, many of these Heirloom crops are richer in taste than some of the newer varieties. I have chosen to plant a wide variety of both Heirloom and standard vegetables. We look forward to hearing your opinions regarding the different varieties of vegetables, especially in learning which ones are your favorites. Our CSA season will begin June 15 and end October 12, for an 18 week season – a little shorter than 2009. We want to be sure to have good variety each week. Accordingly, we have decreased the cost of the shares. Share pick-up will be on Tuesdays between 3 – 6 pm at Wisteria Gardens under the Pavilion. Join us for another season of bounteous blessings from Mother Nature on the CSA Farm at Wisteria Gardens! Click Here to sign up! Wisteria Gardens Adult Care Home 08/29/2009
Many thanks to Steve and Lindy Scharstein, the Care Coordinators at Wisteria Gardens AFH. Steve and Lindy attended my AFH Administrator Training early in 2009 - they came to Wisteria Gardens AFH as volunteers to get their 320 hours of caregiving experience - and decided to stay on! Steve and Lindy have put the heart back into the home again! If your loved one is looking for a loving care home, call Lindy at 360-891-4433 for a personal tour. As of today, we have a double room with half bath available. We cleaned up the Cottage Garden today... in preparation for our first CSA FarmShare pick-up on Monday June 15, and the Clark County Master Gardener tour on Thursday June 18, 2009. We chopped away weeds, added fresh mulch, trimmed up the Curly Willow trees, and finally set that old iron bathtub in place, ready for some perenials.... hmmm.... what shall we plant in it? |
